Pre-Convention Historic Sites Tour
(departing from the front of VFW hall at 1:30pm Friday June 6th)
A description of the tour from Tony Gulotta, our tour guide, fellow gamer, and history buff:
The American revolutionary battles of Connecticut Farms and Springfield in 1780 were the last major actions in the Northeast. We will be visiting both battlefields during our tour. Located in the heart of Union county over 10,000 men were involved in this campaign. We will be meeting at the VFW hall and driving to the two local battles. (Please arrange rides, as I cannot guarantee I will be returning to the hall). The sites include both churches (both rebuilt) where final defenses were made. In Springfield only 4 houses remained after the battle and it took 14 years for the town to be re-incorporated. Please wear comfortable shoes. The walking is not major, but there are some small hills. I expect we will be done between 3 and 4 pm.
